Steve Bryan - General Manager
Steve is a native Houstonian, and is a
permanent fixture in Houston tennis. Steve attended the University
of Texas where he won the 1990 NCAA National Championship, and was
the Volvo College Tennis Players of the Year. After leaving UT,
Steve played on the ATP tour for 8 years, and reached a career high
ranking of 79 in the world. He had wins over Brad Gilbert, Patrick
McEnroe, Richard Krajicek, and Andre Medvedev among others. After
the tour, Steve formed the King Daddy Sports junior academy (with
partner Todd Folsom) in Houston, where he helped graduate over 100
players that went on to play college tennis. Since 2007, Steve has
been the General Manager at Westheimer Indoor, where he has built a
staff that is willing to work hard for its membership. Steve
oversees all activity at Westheimer Indoor, and is very motivated to
see that the club continues to move in the right direction for its
membership.
Todd Folsom - King Daddy Sports Director/Adult League Coordinator Todd has been in the junior tennis academy industry since 1987 in the greater Houston area.Throughout his years of working with young players, he has developed knowledge of what it takes to get the most out of these athletes.Todd has worked with over a hundred players that have gone on to compete at the college level, either on athletic scholarship, or by walking on the team.Many of these players have gone on to win championships at the collegiate level, and a few have excelled at the professional level. These players are the product of Todd’s dedication and hard work that is seen every time he steps on the court.John Boytim - Teaching Professional John is a co-founder of King Daddy Sports,
and a former Director of the USTA Area
Training Center
for Houston. He is a USPTA P-1 certified teaching
pro. John competed on the ATP Tour from
1988-1992, and reached a career high ranking of #262 in the world. He has won 11 National Junior Championships,
and was the #1 ranked junior in the U.S. in 1985. John also helped lead the Georgia Bulldogs to
an NCAA title in 1987.Erin Hunter - Front Desk ManagerI began training as a student with King Daddy in 1997. Throughout my years as a junior player I played statewide and nationally as well as on my high school team. Upon graduation, I received a full tennis scholarship to Texas Tech University where I played for three years. At Tech, my doubles partner and I were ranked in the top twenty-five in the nation. In the summer of 2009 I came on board with Westheimer Indoor and King Daddy Sports. Glen Moolchan - Front DeskGlenn was the #1 ranked junior player growing up in Panama. He was a 3 time NCAA and NAIA All american (1974-1975) while attending Texas Southern University. Glen has 40 years of experience teaching tennis, and has been with Westheimer Indoor since 1989. Patrick Painter - Teaching Professional/Facilities Manager
Patrick Painter has been teaching at Westheimer Indoor since 2009. He played Tennis at The University of Texas at Tyler, earning the "All Confrence Team" award 4 years in a row for the American Southwest Conference.
Selim Samman - Summer Camp and Zat DirectorSelim Samman was raised in Houston, TX , and graduated from Stratford High School in Spring Branch. He attended college at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, TX, where he received his degree in Recreational Tennis Teaching. He has coached tennis since 2000, and has been with Westheimer Indoor since 2001. He is the Director of the summer camps and the ZAT programs at the club. Todd Smith - Teaching Professional Todd was born in 1967 in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He moved to Texas in 1970 after his father returned from Vietnam. He began playing sports at the age of 5 but didn't begin playing tennis until the age of 13.He taught for short stints at Clemson University and University of Kentucky under the tutelage of Chuck Kriese and Dennis Emery before moving back to Texas in 1994. There, he began teaching at the Fondren Tennis Club. He started working with King Daddy Sports in 2003. His students range from very young to very old. His teaching philosophy revolves around repetition of strokes with high energy fast-paced drills. He also believes in having fun while you are on the court. He has one daughter, Addison, who is currently 12 years old. In his off time he enjoys spending time with Addison as well as gardening and reading.

Ross Shaw - Teaching ProfessionalP1, Australian Accredited Tennis Professional, has over 30 years of playing, coaching, and teaching experience. Former highly ranked Australian junior, ATP world ranked in 1986-1987. U.S. National and State Senior singles and doubles ranking, 1992-2005. In addition to teaching people all over the world, he has coached nationally ranked juniors and ATP players. He has a service-oriented attitude and an entrepreneurial spirit, along with being a "people" person. His expertise in the world of tennis and his wealth of knowledge of the service industry makes him a true professional. Brian Mandell - Quickstart/Junior Team Tennis CoordinatorBrian grew up in the King Daddy program starting at the age of 11. He began coaching in the summer camps at age 16, and has been teaching ever since. As a player, he reached the super-champ level in both the 14's and 16's age divisions. Brian graduated from Memorial High School, where he was a 4 year varsity player, and captain of his team during his junior and senior years. Brian has completed numerous certification classes for coaching, as well as tournament director workshops. He has worked as an intern with the MHS tennis team, and for the Houston Aeros hockey team. Brian went on to study at UH, and graduated in May 2010 with a degree in Sports Administration. |
